What it does
Settings, Local Transfer, start a session. The phone shows an address and a one-time six-digit code. On a computer on the same Wi-Fi, open the address in a browser, enter the code, and you can browse albums, download media and upload files that are encrypted straight into the vault.
Security
The session exists only while the Local Transfer screen is open and the vault is unlocked. The code is minted per session and is never your vault passcode, so the real credential never crosses the network. The session times out after five minutes of inactivity, and eight wrong codes shut the server down. If a decoy vault is open, Local Transfer serves the decoy.
When it fails
Guest Wi-Fi, VPNs and firewalls can stop the two devices reaching each other. Both need to be on the same trusted network, and Local Network permission must be allowed.
